Buffered-Microgrid Structure for Future Power Networks; a Seamless Microgrid Control

This paper proposes a new structure and control scheme for future microgrid-based power system, which is designed to achieve seamless operation in both islanded grid-connected modes, while the load appropriately shared by all units (i.e., renewable sources, energy storage systems grid). The proposed method, involves physical separation of microgrid from grid using AC/DC/AC converters, ensures safe, secure modes. Such “buffered” enables reduction transmission losses reducing exchanged with through dead-zone buffering converter. An inverse-droop technique has been implemented voltage magnitude frequency, current dq -frame. PSCAD/EMTDC software used validate method simulating different scenarios. solution provides simple, smooth, communication-free decentralized multi-sources microgrids. Moreover, buffered separates dynamics grid, faster frequency protects faults on other side.
